alanlewis Jess Tardy has long been a favorite. Her voice is soft and smooth and she sings with a light, appealing drawl. “Sky City Lullaby,” well produced by Sean Staples, may be her best album. Most songs, though not all, are country. Tardy interprets rather than merely covering songs. “Blue Skies” has a sense of longing, while “Love Me Tender” is bright and a step quicker than the 1956 hit. Highlights from the earlier “Waiting for You,” well worth hearing, include “Safe and Sound” and “Ships Crashing.” Favorite track: Dusty Skies.
